When it's sunny, why do I need a sunshade? Can't I just use the pram or stroller hood?

Hoods are built for rain, not sun

A pram or stroller hood is usually made from a thick, solid, waterproof fabric. That's exactly what you want when it's raining. On a hot, sunny day, that same solid fabric traps heat underneath it rather than letting it escape, which works against you rather than for you.
